Where Nightly fits

If you'd rather not build it

Or have it made for you

Both Squarespace and WordPress are for building it yourself. Nightly builds the website from your own answers, in your own words, and you change what you like. It includes search basics, blog drafts and Business Brain, a plan for your business's own files. It doesn't have a store yet, and costs more than their cheapest plans.

Questions answered

Squarespace or WordPress

  1. Is WordPress free?

The WordPress software from WordPress.org is free, but you buy hosting elsewhere. WordPress.com has a free plan that shows its ads to your visitors. Squarespace has no free plan, only a 14-day trial.

  2. Which has a store?

Both. Squarespace has an online store on every plan, with a 2% fee on Basic. WordPress.com has a WooCommerce store on its Commerce plan.

  3. Which one is cheaper?

WordPress.com's paid plans start lower when billed yearly, and it has a free plan. Its page shows the yearly price as a saving, so check what it renews at before you buy.
